Simulator: Serial |
|
|
This window simulates the serial ports on the RTCU devices.
The "Enabled" LED shows the state of the port (open or closed).
The serial ports have two possible modes: virtual and external.
Virtual mode This is the standard mode for the Simulator. To send a frame to the VPL application, type in the frame including SOF, EOF and stuffch. Calculate the length of the frame and press the Send button. The console in the "Sent from Simulator" sections show the frames that the VPL application sends.
External mode The External mode uses a physical com port on the PC and is enabled by selecting the "Use physical RS232 port" checkbox. This allows the VPL application to be tested with actual devices instead of the user typing in all the communication. Note that control signals will only be used with Port 1.
To use external mode, a com port must be selected in the Settings. Only one of the ports can be in external mode at a time. When external mode is selected, the input controls for Virtual mode are disabled.
